Deaf Heritage Centre (DHC) was set up in 1999 by a group of past pupils of St Joseph’s School for Deaf Boys.

About the Deaf Heritage Centre (DHC)​

Deaf Heritage Centre (DHC) was set up in 1999 by a group of past pupils of St Joseph’s School for Deaf Boys.

Its aims are to collate, maintain and protect artefacts, materials and records of the Deaf Community, tracing back 200 years. The objectives of DHC are together with the ex-pupils from St Mary’s school for Deaf girls and other Deaf schools. 

The objectives of DHC are to showcase collections of heritage preserve data and records in its archive-room and to provide education on Deaf history in Ireland. 

It seeks to promote the history of the Deaf Community in Ireland and to encourage the Deaf Community to take pride in their history.
